This kit is designed for the MOST based cars built at Gaydon. This includes:
- DB9
- V8 Vantage 05>
- The kit should also be applicable to the late model Vanquish ‘S’. However this has yet to be tested.
The Infotainment system works on the MOST Fibre Optic system, this allows high speed data and audio signal connection between the ICM (dash control unit), Radio pack (situated above the o/s/r wheel), In dash CD Changer, and Amplifier.
We have been given access to enable us to develop a ‘Gateway’ device. This adds another device into the Fibre Optic network and emulates another CD Changer. This can then be swapped, via a switch, with the existing in-dash changer. One way, Ipod. Other way, indash changer. It can be switched on the move and takes around 6 seconds to switch.
Once the Ipod is connected, it can either be controlled via the Ipod or from the ICM. Depending on whether it is an Iphone connected and whether the cable is situated in the cubby tray, in the centre console. Or a normal Ipod, which would normally be hidden in the glovebox. There is also the facility to connect a USB device. The gateway can handle song information up to 100Gb.
With the Ipod connected, pressing disc 1 will then show the playlists scrolling across the display in alphabetical order. Should you wish to play that playlist, simply leave the Ipod playing and after 30 seconds, the display will change to disc 5. At that point you may scroll through the selected playlist by using the FF and REW buttons or R/H knob. Should you wish to speed up that process, then once you have selected the desired playlist, press and hold fast forward and this will go straight to disc 5. Disc 2, controls Artists and Disc 3, Albums. Disc 4 is used for extras such as random and repeat.
The kit is already enabled to use the latest generation of Iphone 3G and Ipod products. It is also firmware upgradeable, to allow for any future software changes in the Ipod/Iphone.
